We manage building construction, refurbishment, and repairs contracts, delivering both capital projects and planned and reactive maintenance to our Corporate, Community, and School buildings.

About the role: As a Building Surveyor, you will lead the delivery of fabric improvement and maintenance works for Corporate, Community, and School projects from initiation to handover. Your construction industry knowledge and expertise will be crucial in providing professional and technical advice within Reading Borough Council. You will engage and liaise with stakeholders to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Key areas of responsibility:
- Procurement: Manage services and works contracts as required.
- Surveys: Conduct measured and structural surveys of properties.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare technical specifications, schedules of work, and tender documents.
- Compliance: Ensure projects comply with Health and Safety and CDM Regulations.
- Refurbishment: Deliver stock condition surveys and building refurbishment works, including Health & Safety improvements.
About you: We are looking for someone with the expertise to provide comprehensive professional and technical services for maintenance, refurbishment, improvement, and new build schemes. The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualifications: Degree in a construction industry qualification or HNC in Construction with post-qualification experience.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge: Thorough and up-to-date knowledge of construction and best practices.
- Project Management: Experience in project management and understanding of project/programme management methodologies.
