The Opportunity
Reactive Recruitment are recruiting on behalf of a well-established construction business for an experienced Estimator to join their commercial team based in Castledawson. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Estimator looking to take ownership of the estimating function while supporting commercial and operational teams in delivering profitable construction projects. The Role
Reporting to the Core Services Director, you'll be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and competitive tender submissions while supporting the commercial performance of projects throughout delivery. Working closely with suppliers, subcontractors and operational teams, you'll play a key role in pricing projects, identifying commercial risks and supporting successful project delivery from tender stage through to completion.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare competitive tender submissions and detailed cost estimates.
- Complete quantity take-offs from drawings and project specifications.
- Obtain, analyse and negotiate supplier and subcontractor quotations.
- Carry out value engineering and project risk assessments.
- Monitor project costs against budgets throughout delivery.
- Manage variations, re-measurements and change orders.
- Support forecasting, commercial reporting and cost planning.
- Maintain historical cost data and benchmarking information.
- Build strong working relationships with clients, suppliers and subcontractors.
- Ensure compliance with company procedures, contractual requirements and industry standards.

Essential Experience
- Level 3 qualification or above in Construction, Quantity Surveying, Estimating or a related discipline.
- Minimum 3 years' estimating experience.
- Experience preparing tenders and competitive cost estimates.
- Strong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery.
- Experience managing supplier and subcontractor enquiries.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Experience working within a fast-paced construction environment.
Highly Desirable
- NEC contract experience.
- Public sector or housing project experience.
- Experience using estimating software such as Conquest or Causeway.
