The Role
Our client is seeking an experienced Production & Project Manager to manage and coordinate projects through a bespoke manufacturing operation, from design and procurement through manufacture and installation. Working closely with the Design Manager, Workshop Manager, Installation Manager, Estimating and Procurement teams, you will take responsibility for planning and coordinating the flow of projects through the business. The role requires a strong combination of production knowledge, project management, commercial awareness and organisational ability, ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, on programme and within budget.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage projects through the full internal production process from design and procurement through to manufacture and installation.
- Develop, manage and prioritise the production programme in line with project and installation dates.
- Coordinate production workload, capacity and resource requirements with the Workshop Manager.
- Work closely with Design to ensure drawings and technical information are available in line with production requirements.
- Coordinate with Procurement to ensure materials are ordered and available when required.
- Monitor project progress, manufacturing hours and costs against agreed budgets and programmes.
- Identify potential delays, capacity constraints, material issues and cost overruns at an early stage.
- Ensure manufacturing priorities are clearly communicated and achieved.
- Coordinate with the Installation Manager to ensure completed works are ready for delivery and installation.
- Maintain accurate project, production and scheduling information within the ERP system.
- Provide management with regular updates on progress, programme, costs, risks and resource requirements.
- Promote safe working practices across manufacturing and installation activities.
- Support continuous improvement across productivity, quality, planning and manufacturing efficiency.
Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Production Manager, Project Manager, Manufacturing Manager or similar.
- Experience within bespoke joinery, furniture manufacturing, fit-out or a similar manufacturing environment.
- Strong production planning and scheduling experience.
- Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Ability to monitor labour hours, budgets, resources and production costs.
- Ability to read and interpret technical and manufacturing drawings.
- Experience using ERP / MRP or production management systems.
- Strong IT skills, including Microsoft Office and production planning tools.
- Strong communication, leadership and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to coordinate effectively across Design, Procurement, Workshop and Installation teams.
- Strong focus on Health & Safety and operational compliance.
