An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Estimator to join a leading precast concrete manufacturer based in the Ballymena area, supplying innovative solutions to the civil engineering, infrastructure, agriculture and construction sectors across the UK and Ireland. This role is ideal for someone with a background in Civil Engineering, Construction or Structural Engineering who enjoys working closely with clients, pricing projects and converting opportunities into successful orders. You'll play a key role within the Civils team, supporting project delivery from tender stage through to award while helping drive sales growth and customer satisfaction.
The Role
- Prepare accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for civil engineering projects.
- Review Bills of Quantities, drawings, specifications and engineering information.
- Price customer enquiries and tender opportunities within required timescales.
- Work closely with the estimating team to secure new projects and maximise sales opportunities.
- Liaise professionally with clients, contractors and stakeholders throughout the tender process.
- Organise and attend customer meetings.
- Negotiate and communicate effectively to develop long-term commercial relationships.
- Support project planning, development and tender award processes.
- Coordinate with internal departments to ensure projects are delivered in line with customer requirements.
- Assist in resolving technical queries and project-related issues.
- Provide updates on tender activity, project status and order progress.
- Support achievement of departmental KPIs and business objectives.
What We're Looking For
- Degree qualified in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
- Previous experience in an Estimating, Commercial or Technical Sales role.
- Strong ability to interpret construction drawings, specifications and engineering information.
- Excellent communication, negotiation and customer-facing skills.
- Strong organisational and project management abilities.
- Experience managing projects from tender stage through to delivery.
- Excellent IT skills including Microsoft Office.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
- Commercial awareness with a focus on delivering customer satisfaction and business growth.
- Full driving licence desirable.
Desirable Experience
- 3-5 years' experience within a civil engineering, construction or precast concrete environment.
- Experience working with CRM systems.
- Knowledge of precast concrete products and their application within infrastructure projects.
- Experience working towards KPIs and commercial targets.
