Payroll Officer (12-Month Fixed Term Contract) Newry Monday to Friday, 9:00am to 5:00pm (flexible working available). Hybrid working available after training.

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain and update employee data on the HRTime system (time and attendance)
  • Manage absences including holidays, sickness, and maternity leave
  • Produce reports on hours worked, overtime, and shift patterns
  • Liaise with payroll processors and internal payroll team
  • Set up and manage BACS payments and third-party payments
  • Administer employee benefits and salary sacrifice schemes (e.g. Cycle to Work, Tech Scheme)
  • Process statutory payments including company sick pay and maternity/paternity pay
  • Review weekly and monthly payroll files prior to approval
  • Conduct weekly National Minimum Wage checks
  • Maintain accurate payroll and HR system records
  • Work closely with HR and Finance teams on payroll-related matters
  • Respond to employee payroll queries in a timely manner
  • Support with ad hoc duties as required

Essential Criteria

  • GCSEs (or equivalent) including Maths and English, or relevant payroll/finance qualification (e.g. CIPP Certificate, AAT Level 2/3)
  • Proven experience in payroll administration
  • Experience processing weekly and/or monthly payroll
  • Knowledge of statutory payments and pension auto-enrolment
  • Proficiency in payroll systems and Microsoft Excel
  • Strong understanding of UK payroll legislation and HMRC requirements
