What you'll be doing:

  • Meet face to face both physically and/or virtually and review available medical evidence from applicants to the scheme to determine the permanence of an applicant's condition and their percentage disablement.
  • Play a pro-active role in seeking insight and further medical evidence as required from GPs, other healthcare professionals or services to support the applicant's TPDPS application.
  • Gather relevant information, where applicable from the applicant and or representative, and analyse and interpret clinical information along with any other supporting evidence.
  • Compile a comprehensive report in a professional and concise manner, including a detailed history, a full justification and conclusion from evidence gathered to support the Victims Payments Board (VPB) in its decision-making.

Qualifications - What we're looking for:

  • A fully registered medical practitioner such as a psychologist, registered nurse, occupational therapist, physiotherapist, or social worker; or fully registered with a regulatory body with a minimum of 2 years post registration experience (4 years for social workers).
  • Fully registered without sanction or conditions of practice with the GMC/NMC/HCPC/NISCC with a valid PIN.
  • A valid full driving licence and access to a car.
  • A demonstrable background in a Mental Health / Psychiatric speciality.
  • Ability to work at pace, set boundaries, manage conversations and keep to timescales.
  • Ability to relate to people from a range of socio-economic backgrounds, races, religions and cultures.
  • Report writing skills with an ability to deal with a high percentage of work using a laptop and IT systems.
  • Strong analytical skills familiar with MS Office, particularly Excel/Word and PowerPoint.

Successful candidates will be required to successfully complete government baseline personnel security standard vetting and a Counter Terrorist Check (CTC). This is recognised standard for the pre-employment screening of individuals with access to information related to the TPDPS.

Additional Information:

Your working hours: Minimum contracted hours for this role are 30 hours per week and a maximum of 37.5 per week (full time). We’ll consider your work-life balance, as well as the needs of the business, to try and create a working pattern that benefits both of us. Working patterns can be between the hours of 8am and 8pm, Monday to Friday and include an hour for lunch, unpaid. For example, 8am - 4:30pm or 9am - 5:30pm. We’ll also try to give you a minimum of 4 weeks notice of any changes to your rota if they are needed.
