Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of infrastructure work, GMC Utilities Group are seeking an Intermediate to Senior Quantity Surveyor to join their team in Galway. This is an excellent opportunity to join a leading civils and utilities contractor, supporting the commercial delivery of infrastructure projects across Galway and surrounding areas. The role offers strong long-term progression, exposure to live utilities projects, and the opportunity to develop within a growing market leader.

Key Responsibilities

  • Commercial & Cost Management
    • Assist in managing project costs, budgets, and forecasts
    • Prepare cost reports, CVRs, and financial tracking documentation
    • Monitor project profitability and support cash flow management
    • Assist with value engineering and commercial risk management activities
  • Contract & Risk Management
    • Support administration of contracts (NEC experience beneficial)
    • Maintain variation trackers, risk registers, and EOT logs
    • Ensure contractual compliance and accurate project record keeping
    • Assist with change control and commercial correspondence
  • Procurement & Subcontract Management
    • Support subcontractor procurement and negotiations
    • Review subcontractor accounts and supplier payments
    • Assist with preparation of subcontract agreements and payment certificates
    • Support final account processes where required
  • Variations & Reporting
    • Measure, price, and track project variations
    • Assist with monthly reporting and commercial reviews
    • Attend site and management meetings as required
    • Liaise with project teams, subcontractors, suppliers, and accounts departments
  • Team & Project Support
    • Work closely with site and project teams across live infrastructure projects
    • Support junior surveyors and contribute to commercial awareness across teams
    • Assist in managing multiple projects within fast-paced civils environments

Candidate Requirements

  • Essential
    • Degree in Quantity Surveying / Commercial Management (or similar)
    • 6+ years experience within Quantity Surveying
    • Background in civils, utilities, or infrastructure projects
    • Full clean driving licence
    • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Desirable
    • Experience working with NEC contracts
    • Exposure to water, drainage, or power infrastructure projects
    • Experience in site-based delivery environments
