Our client, based in Kingswinford, is looking to add a skilled and mechanically minded Mechanical Build / Fitter to their growing team. Working closely with the Manufacturing Manager, you will ensure machines are built to specification and on schedule.
Key Responsibilities
- Mechanical assembly and fitting of machinery, equipment and sub-assemblies
- Working from engineering drawings, schematics and technical documentation
- Installation of hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems
- Integration of mechanical components and third-party equipment into larger assemblies
- Identifying and reporting build or component issues to the relevant departments
- Supporting equipment installation, servicing and upgrades at customer sites when required
- Carrying out inspections and quality checks throughout the build process
- Using workshop machinery and hand tools safely and effectively
- Assisting with continuous improvement initiatives across manufacturing processes
- Supporting project planning activities and contributing to efficient build schedules
- Maintaining high standards of housekeeping and workplace safety
- Undertaking additional engineering and production support duties as required
Skills & Experience
- Previous experience in machine building, mechanical fitting or equipment assembly
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and fluid power schematics
- Strong mechanical aptitude and fault-finding ability
- Experience working with hydraulic and pneumatic systems
- Excellent attention to detail and quality standards
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good communication skills and a professional approach
- Flexible attitude towards overtime and occasional travel
- Full UK Driving Licence
- Valid passport and willingness to travel when required
Desirable
- Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, NVQ or equivalent)
- Experience within bespoke machinery, special purpose machinery or capital equipment manufacturing
- Knowledge of LEAN manufacturing principles
- Experience operating workshop equipment, lifting equipment or forklift trucks
- Problem-solving and continuous improvement experience
