Job Summary
We are looking for an experienced Transport Manager (CPC Holder) to lead and oversee all fleet and transport operations. This role is responsible for ensuring full compliance with DVSA regulations, company policy, and legal obligations as the named O-Licence holder. You will manage the preventative maintenance plan, vehicle defects and repairs, tachograph compliance, and provide clear leadership to drivers and operational staff. The role also involves ensuring the fleet is safe, roadworthy, and operating to the highest standard at all times.
Key Responsibilities
- Fleet & Compliance Management
- Manage full fleet compliance in line with company policy and O-Licence responsibilities.
- Act as the primary contact for all fleet-related issues.
- Ensure all vehicles are roadworthy with an effective defect reporting process in place.
- Create and manage preventative maintenance schedules (PMIs, repairs, MOT bookings).
- Monitor external maintenance contractors and undertake regular workshop visits.
- Ensure all vehicles attend PMIs and MOTs on the correct dates.
- Monitor OCRS scores and DVSA encounter reports.
- Audit and maintain all maintenance records for a minimum of 15 months.
- Take responsibility for any maintenance shortcomings, including PG9/PG13 notices.
- Driver Management
- Oversee driver scheduling and planning to ensure compliance with EU and Domestic driving rules.
- Manage tachograph compliance: driver card downloads, VU downloads, and record analysis.
- Review tacho infringements, issue warnings, and provide corrective actions.
- Ensure drivers complete daily walkaround checks to the correct standard and retrain where needed.
- Support and oversee the Driver CPC training programme.
- Conduct CRB checks for drivers where required.
- Operational Duties
- Assist in drafting and enforcing fleet and transport policies.
- Maintain accurate and compliant records for inspections, services, and legal requirements.
- Manage Operator Licence variations and communication with the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.
- Ensure compliance with UK road regulations and any Airside regulations where applicable.
- Establish and maintain KPIs to measure fleet performance.
- Analyse operational/airline data to ensure instructions and processes remain up to date.
- Promote a positive culture of health & safety, wellbeing, environmental responsibility, and teamwork.
Qualifications & Experience
- Essential
- Transport Manager CPC qualification.
- Previous experience in a Transport Manager or similar front-line management role.
- Experience managing operational teams/drivers.
- Strong knowledge of tachograph systems and driver hours regulations.
- Understanding of transport legislation and DVSA compliance requirements.
- Experience communicating with the Office of the Traffic Commissioner.
- Knowledge of CAA/AVSEC, food hygiene, and wider safety regulations.

Additional Requirements
- Right to work in the UK.
- Must pass a Criminal Record Check (CRC).
- Must provide 5 years of checkable references.
- If the candidate has lived outside the UK for 6 months, they must provide a CRC from that country.
