Overview
Our client is seeking a Technical Instructor (Electronic or Electrical bias). The role is offered as a fulltime permanent position – candidates must be passionate about teaching others.
Location: Based in Rochester with travel required within the UK and abroad (staying away to deliver the course)
Benefits: all expenses paid – hotel accommodation, petrol etc, 25 days holiday + BH, paid monthly, can become a shareholder and enjoy the benefit of share dividends and tax-free bonus payments.
Hours: Mainly office hours (9-5pm)
A flexible approach is required as the role often includes evening and weekend work.
Time off in lieu is allocated when Technical Instructors are required to travel to distant work locations on Sundays or at other times outside normal working hours.
Expenses: Technical Instructors are reimbursed for hotel accommodation and meals when working away. Mileage is paid for at the Inland Revenue guidelines, currently 45p/mile.
Transport: In the main, instructors use their own transport, which must be fit for purpose.
Company vans are also available.
A valid UK driving licence is essential.
The Technical Instructor Role
- To design and deliver training courses to small groups of engineers
- Working mainly in Kent, but will be required to travel throughout the UK and overseas
- Ordering parts, briefing and dealing with sub-contractors, building training rigs, researching technical issues, writing course notes
- Successfully deliver training courses – electrical, electronic, instrumentation etc
Qualifications and Experience
- Electrical / Electronic engineering knowledge, relevant qualifications or qualified by experience
- Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of students (adults) in an engaging and positive manner
- To ensure the training courses are interesting, relevant, and up to date
- The ability to recognise when improvements can be made and the motivation and determination to make changes happen
- Excellent verbal communication skills are essential.
