The Role
The Head of Commercial Property will be responsible for leading and developing the Commercial Property team while maintaining a high-quality caseload of commercial property matters.
Working as part of the firm's wider management team, the successful candidate will contribute to strategic planning, departmental growth, profitability and client development initiatives.
Key responsibilities include
- Leading and managing the Commercial Property department
- Providing supervision, support and mentoring to fee earners and support staff
- Managing workflow allocation, quality control and departmental performance
- Conducting regular file reviews and ensuring compliance with firm policies and regulatory requirements
- Acting as a positive role model and fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration and outstanding client service
- Contributing to firm-wide management decisions and attending departmental management meetings
- Developing and implementing departmental business plans, including 12-month, 3-year and 5-year growth strategies
- Driving business development and marketing initiatives to increase market presence and attract new clients
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with clients, referrers and professional contacts
- Supporting cross-referral opportunities across the wider firm
- Managing departmental financial performance, including billing, profitability, credit control and debt recovery
- Achieving individual fee-earning and chargeable hour targets
- Keeping abreast of developments in Commercial Property law, legislation and market trends
- Preparing content and presenting at client seminars, networking events and business development activities

- You will handle a broad range of Commercial Property matters including:
- Commercial acquisitions and disposal
- Landlord and tenant matters

- Property investment transactions

- AML and onboarding compliance requirements relating to property transactions
- Candidate Requirements
Applications are welcomed from experienced Commercial Property Solicitors, Legal Executives and Senior Lawyers who possess:
- Qualified Solicitor or CILEX Lawyer status
- A minimum of 8 years' PQE in Commercial Property law
- Strong technical expertise across a broad range of commercial property matters
- Previous experience leading, supervising or mentoring legal teams
- A proven track record of developing and maintaining strong client relationships
- Business development and networking experience
- Confidence in marketing and representing the firm externally
- Strong commercial awareness and a client-focused approach
