We are instructed on behalf of a Top 50 UK law firm with a long‐established national presence and a strong reputation for excellence in real estate and development work. With offices across the South East, East of England and London, the firm advises a broad range of commercial, public sector and private clients in the UK and internationally.

Consistently recognised as one of the best law firms to work for, the firm combines high‐quality legal work with a genuinely collegiate culture, long‐term career development and a strong commitment to ESG, diversity and inclusion.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Residential Development Partner to join a growing South East office that plays a strategically important role within the wider national Residential Development practice. The Residential Development team is well established and highly regarded, acting for national and regional housebuilders, SME developers, landowners and registered providers. The team works closely with planning, construction, tax, environmental and real estate litigation specialists to deliver joined‐up advice on complex development schemes.

This role offers the chance to take a leadership position, with real influence over strategy, growth and team development.

The Role:

  • While maintaining your own practice, the emphasis of this role is on leadership, client strategy and practice growth rather than solely fee earning.
  • Providing strategic leadership for the Sevenoaks Residential Development team.
  • Driving the growth and profile of the practice across the South East.
  • Developing new workstreams, clients and markets.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with developers, landowners and investors.
  • Playing a visible role in business development, networking and thought leadership.
  • Working collaboratively with Partners across the wider real estate group.
  • Leading, mentoring and developing a high‐performing team of lawyers.

About You

This role will suit a senior residential development lawyer who:

  • Has significant post‐qualification experience gained at a City, regional or national firm.
  • Has strong technical expertise across all aspects of residential development work.
  • Is commercially minded and able to advise sophisticated development clients pragmatically.
  • Has experience leading and growing teams and mentoring senior lawyers.
  • Has a proven track record in business development and client relationship management.
  • Brings credibility, confidence and strategic ambition.

An existing client following or strong market network is desirable but not essential. What matters most is the motivation and capability to grow the practice as a core part of the firm's long‐term strategy.

What's on Offer?

  • A senior leadership role within a highly respected national practice.
  • Genuine support for business development and team growth.
  • A competitive Partner remuneration and benefits package.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements.
  • A people‐focused, inclusive culture with long‐term career commitment.
