We are currently recruiting for a locum Employment Lawyer to join a friendly and supportive legal team in a Council in the South London area.

The locum Employment Lawyer assignment will be for an initial 3-month contract, with a view to extend on a rolling basis.

This is a full-time role and will require office attendance twice per week.

The successful candidate will have knowledge of employment law and experience working in a similar role so they can hit the ground running.

Local government or public sector experience is desirable, but not essential.

Duties include but are not limited to

  • Representing the Council before the Employment Tribunal (CMHs)
  • Providing advice on matters such as restructuring, TUPE
  • Working closely with senior managers and stakeholders on a range of employment law disputes
  • Providing employment law advice
  • Handling a caseload of contentious and non-contentious employment matters (dismissals, discrimination, etc)
  • Settlement agreements

This role would be suited to a Qualified Solicitor, Legal Executive or Barrister, who is confident dealing with a mixed Employment caseload.

The successful candidate may be required to attend Courts or Tribunals, but can also instruct Counsel, so willingness to attend tribunal is very desirable even at a basic level.
