Are you a senior fashion, beauty or shopping journalist with a keen eye for writing engaging copy? Do you have proven experience working across print, digital and video with excellent copy editing skills? We’re looking for an Acting Fashion, Beauty & Shopping Lead to support the Head of Lifestyle to generate, plan, film and write shoppable content daily across both print and digital platforms. Managing a small team, you will curate and publish content across multiple titles including The Mirror, OK! Magazine (both print and online), new! and across our supplements. This is an exciting opportunity for a senior journalist and leader to play a pivotal role in our Lifestyle department. This is an initial 9 month fixed term contract, maternity cover role, starting mid July 2026.

This is a hybrid role linked to our Canary Wharf hub (typically 3 days in hub per week), we are therefore looking for candidates based in/around London.

What will the role involve?

  • You will create 360-degree fashion, beauty and shopping content across print, digital and video media, ensuring everything you produce is executed to the highest standards.
  • You will collaborate closely with the Editor-in-Chief, Deputy Editors and other departments, particularly Multimedia and Art, as well as working alongside Reach Studio to generate viral video ideas and film content for commercial gain.
  • You will work closely and collaboratively with the Head of Lifestyle while managing, supporting and coaching a small team of Lifestyle Content Creators to enhance their development and build their skill sets.
  • You will generate, forward-plan, write and desk-edit strong, shoppable beauty and wellness content every day, utilising your exceptional journalism skills and creativity to oversee engaging features.
  • You will ensure all content features sharp, digital-friendly headlines optimised for SEO and social media.
  • You will conduct high-profile celebrity interviews and confidently step up to cover for the Head of Lifestyle as and when required.
  • You will stay informed and ahead of industry trends and new product launches, whilst embracing innovation and change in working practices to proactively drive new ideas for beauty features.
  • You will regularly act as an enthusiastic brand ambassador, representing the title at key industry events.
  • This role involves working one weekend shift per month, so a flexible approach is required.

  • You are a highly skilled journalist and editor with a strong track record of experience within a senior beauty, fashion or shopping role, bringing a proven balance of both digital and print skills.
  • You are exceptionally organised, with superb planning skills that ensure tight daily and weekly content deadlines are always met.
  • You are a creative force with a natural flair for generating exclusive, innovative style ideas, backed by a thorough understanding of the beauty and fashion industries and a contacts book to match.
  • You are commercially minded, able to seamlessly demonstrate your commercial experience alongside your traditional editorial talent.
  • You are highly proficient in digital workflows, possessing strong CMS uploading skills, and you are just as confident in front of the camera as you are behind the scenes, with a portfolio of video content examples to prove it.
  • You are an experienced leader with a history of successful team guidance, ready to inspire our creators and take our lifestyle content to the next level.
