What will the role involve?

Working with newsdesk and reporters to generate traffic-driving ideas and exclusives

Helping manage a team of reporters to cover the stories that matter – from breaking news to investigations and features

Finding and developing stories that will appeal to Express readers both online and in print

Liaising with freelance reporters across the globe to establish a network of contributors
-
Understanding audience analytics and the use of stats to dictate how we headline stories and how we shape newslists
-
Balancing the biggest hard news stories of each day with lighter trivia pieces and features which will generate a large audience at weekends and on quiet news days

Being willing to work evenings, weekends and overnight shifts when required

Ensuring that copy, where required, is adapted to the right standard required for our papers

Editing and managing copy to tight deadlines ensuring accuracy

NCTJ or equivalent journalism degree and knowledge of media law

Have a strong understanding of the unique nature of digital news

An excellent knowledge of world affairs and a passion for global news
