Overview
We are looking for a Videographer to shoot original, high quality footage in the field & the studio to clearly document stories across all AV output. Reporting directly to the Producer for everyday journalism, and working with Editorial, Studio and Commercial teams, you will need to have a proven track record of shaping video content and plans, and experience of working on high quality video productions. This role is home & hub linked to either our Manchester or Canary Wharf hubs, so you must be located in or around London or Manchester. You will be covering a Sunday - Saturday rota between 6am - 11pm, so flexibility is key. Please note: This advert will close at midnight on Tuesday 23rd September. Responsibilities And Accountabilities
- Shoot original, high quality footage in the field/within a studio to visually document stories, across all AV output
- Act as a leading voice when others need help with more complicated filming/editing issues
- Assemble raw footage into engaging video content for multiple platforms, shaping story narrative through editing, visual style, and sound mixing
- Deliver fast-paced support to edit newsroom content output
- Work closely with the brand producer to turn any original content ideas into high-quality video output
- Travel to capture stories alongside other video roles/journalists
- Responsible, alongside other editorial colleagues, for uploading and distributing video content
- Understands best practice for formats, style, and content types on each platform
- Ensure video adheres to editorial guidelines and legal/copyright standards
- Supports video coverage for the wider Reach network, including supporting breaking news stories, working with the Video Leads/Daily Video Lead
- Utilise AI tools, in line with Company policies, to optimise content creation, improve accuracy and efficiency, and deliver engaging articles that resonate with our audience
- Create engaging, affiliate content that aligns with the brand and guidelines, driving traffic to partner sites and generating revenue through affiliate strategies. You will be responsible for researching product features, understanding target audiences, and crafting compelling content that encourages click-through and conversions
- Considers the role of audio and video content for every story, capturing or curating basic footage where appropriate or required to engage our audiences
- Play your part in building a diverse and inclusive organisation that reflects the communities and people we serve
- Works according to a rota, including weekend and night shifts, to ensure video resource coverage
Skills & Behaviours
- Strong videography skills. Highly skilled in shooting original, high quality footage in the field/within a studio to visually document stories, across all AV output
- Comfortable shooting video in the field as part of a solo operation and skilled at multi-camera shoots within Studio based environment
- Can demonstrate strong ability to shoot video on a wide variety of DSLR cameras
- Highly skilled on Adobe Suite or an equivalent editing software
- Newsroom experience is highly desired but not essential as long as the candidate can demonstrate a good news sense
- Excellent planning, organisational and time management skills
- Team player who communicates clearly
- Focused on shaping original content to meet relevant audio-video KPIs
- Adaptable; keeps pace with rapidly evolving tech landscapes. Able to adapt to the requirements of the business
- Excellent communication skills
- Knowledge of media law is preferred. If you do not have this you will receive training upon commencing the role
Qualifications & Experience
- Track record of shaping video content and plans
- Proven experience working on high quality video productions. You will be asked to show examples in any potential job interview
- Strong technical knowledge and proficiency
- Excellent stakeholder management skills
- NCTJ/BTCJ qualification is preferred but not a necessity
- Experience in shooting video which has been able to generate strong engagement online is essential
