We’re looking for a Video-first Multimedia Journalist to find, film and tell the stories that matter to people in Gloucestershire and get them seen where our audiences are. You’ll take a video‑led, multimedia approach to everything you publish, producing impactful, audience‑first content across formats: real‑time and edited video, audio/podcasts, live updates, social posts and written articles.
From shooting and editing through to publishing and distribution, you’ll help maximise the reach, engagement and positive impact of our journalism.
This role is home based however you will need to be Gloucestershire based or nearby with use of the Bristol office space as and when required.

About this role
What will the role involve?
- Lead with video: plan, shoot, edit and distribute high‑quality short‑ and long‑form video, including real‑time/live output.
- Tell stories in multiple formats: video (short/long), audio/podcasts, pictures, live updates and written pieces.
- Thoroughly research and balance every story before publication, in line with the Editors’ Code (IPSO).
- Pitch data‑led ideas that grow audience and revenue; use performance insights to guide your output.
- Create engaging affiliate content aligned with brand guidelines, driving traffic and conversions via compliant strategies.
- Tailor and, where approved by a senior editor, distribute content for off‑platform channels while maintaining editorial standards.
- Prioritise audio/video for every story; capture or curate footage that deepens audience engagement.
- Work alongside video colleagues to deliver standout multimedia projects — including video‑only storytelling where appropriate.
- Act up or provide cover in other roles as required by the business.
- Use AI tools, in line with company policies, to optimise workflows, improve accuracy and enhance storytelling.
- Ensure IPSO standards are met at all times and all content is legally sound.
Who are we looking for?
- Proven track record in accurate, creative, multi‑platform digital storytelling — especially shooting, editing and distributing video.
- Experience producing written journalism and using photography to support stories.
- Working knowledge of core editorial KPIs (e.g., video views, page views, revenue) and how to use them to shape coverage.
- Strong social media skills; evidence of building or engaging communities on social platforms is a plus.
- Digital publishing capability: confident with a CMS; comfortable packaging for web, social and streaming.
- Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle.
- Excellent communication, teamwork and time‑management; professional, adaptable and calm under pressure.
- Passion for digital storytelling in local journalism and a curiosity to try new formats and tools.
