Are you a storyteller who can seamlessly bridge the gap between corporate strategy and creative execution? We are looking for a dynamic, versatile, and proactive Communications Manager to join our small, agile, and high-impact communications team. If you thrive in a fast‑paced environment where you can pivot from advising the Senior Leadership Team to drafting a compelling press release, this is the role for you. This is a true 50/50 split role, offering the unique opportunity to shape both our internal culture and our external brand reputation.
Working closely with our Director of Communications, you’ll be the bridge that connects our strategic goals with our 3,000+ employees, while ensuring our brand shines across the trade press and public eye.
As a modern media organisation, we're much more than just news. And it takes a wide range of people and skills to serve diverse audiences, customers and communities like we do. We know everyone has their own story to tell, so we’ve built an environment where every background is respected and every day is a day to explore. We’ll help you build a career that works with your life, while giving you the space to create and grow.
What the role involves:
- Deliver the Plan: Actively implement Reach’s internal and external communication plans, collaborating directly with key stakeholders like the Chief People Officer and Chief Content Officer to get initiatives across the finish line.
- Proactive Advisory: Provide practical, swift advice to the business on day‑to‑day communication issues that impact employee experience and brand reputation.
- Fast‑Paced Content Creation: Draft, edit, and proofread high‑quality copy at speed - including executive scripts, announcements, press releases, social media (LinkedIn), and corporate reports.
- Run the Press Office: Manage day‑to‑day media queries including sensitive issues, support spokespeople with press briefings ahead of interviews and events, and efficiently track and report external media coverage.
- Drive Internal Campaigns: Independently launch and run engaging campaigns using our intranet (Workvivo), video, and digital channels to translate complex business updates into clear, compelling messages.
- Executive & Event Support: Keep things running smoothly by supporting the Director with CEO communications, organising internal events, and aligning narratives with Investor Relations and People Experience.
- Step Up & Cover: Confidently act as the go‑to point of contact for the communications function during peak periods or when the Director is away.
- Agile Execution: Work flexibly and intuitively, pivoting quickly to lend your execution skills wherever the business needs them most.
What You’ll Need to Succeed:
- Dual Comms Experience: A proven track record handling both internal campaigns and external press office/media relations at pace, ideally with hands‑on experience in a busy press office.
- Exceptional Copywriting: The ability to write high‑quality copy quickly, effortlessly shifting from executive scripts and press releases to routine internal updates.
- A Proactive "Doer" Mindset: A self‑starter who works autonomously, takes accountability, and uses modern tools (including video, livestreams, and AI) to get things done.
- Stakeholder Relationship Lead: The confidence to act as a trusted advisor to Executive‑level leaders, build strong collaborative relationships, and smoothly step up as the Director’s deputy when away.
- Resilience & Agility: A calm, flexible professional who thrives under pressure, adapts quickly to changing priorities, and focuses on practical solutions.
If you’re excited about this role but don’t tick every single box, please don’t let that stop you from applying. We know that everyone has their own story to tell, and we value potential, passion and the perspectives that different backgrounds bring to our work. Diverse perspectives strengthen our teams and help us better serve our audiences, which is why we’re dedicated to fostering an inclusive workplace where everyone feels welcome and supported.
As an equal opportunities employer, we encourage applications from people of all backgrounds and experiences. We are committed to a recruitment process that is fair and welcoming to all, without discrimination on the basis of age, disability, gender identity, ethnicity, religion or belief, sexual orientation, or any other protected characteristic.
