About the role
This role is home & hub linked to our Glasgow hub, so you must be located in or around Glasgow.
You will be covering a Sunday – Saturday rota between 6am – 11pm, so flexibility is key.
We are seeking a YouTube Channel Manager to lead the editorial, creative, and strategic development for a prominent brand at Reach. This role is responsible for growing audience reach, engagement, and revenue while driving innovation. This is a highly cross-functional role, working closely with editorial, Studio and analytics teams. The ideal candidate is a deeply platform-native thinker with editorial instincts, proven leadership capabilities, and a passion for YouTube.
- Channel strategy and growth: Own the YouTube roadmap; build repeatable, habit-forming formats; schedule, publish and optimise for search and discovery.
- Editorial and creative: Write and edit platform-native titles/descriptions; create high-performing thumbnails; adapt and package content for YouTube; ensure accessibility, clarity and brand tone; oversee QC.
- Data-led optimisation: Lead analytics and reporting; interpret retention curves, CTR, AVD and traffic sources; run structured tests; iterate formats and publishing playbooks; communicate insights to stakeholders.
- Innovation and partnerships: Pilot new formats and talent; partner with YouTube editorial/product teams to unlock visibility and opportunities.
- Team leadership and coordination: Collaborate closely with video producers/editors; share platform best practice across global editorial and social teams to drive alignment and growth.
What you\’ll need to succeed.
- Proven success managing professional YouTube channels at scale (c. 5–25M+ audience reach), delivering measurable gains in subscribers, watch time and monetisation.
- Deep expertise in YouTube content strategy and algorithms; strong understanding of retention strategies and monetisation models (RPM, monetised playbacks).
- Demonstrable skill creating high-impact thumbnails and packaging that increase CTR and session starts.
- Proficiency in Adobe Premiere Pro (or similar) and post-production workflows.
- Excellent stakeholder management, communication, organisation and presentation skills; strong time management; collaborative, professional and adaptable, including during major breaking news.
- Experience running content calendars and end-to-end production workflows from pitch to publish.
