Overview

We are looking for a Producer to lead our regional/brand video operation, setting strategy and KPIs with Editors and Video Leads, overseeing end-to-end production and managing a Video Editor, Social Video Producer and a Videographer. Embedded in daily journalism, you will collaborate with reporters and newsroom leaders, support breaking news and network rotas, capture original footage, share best practice, use approved AI tools and tailor off-platform content to deliver video strategy and training in your area to support future growth.

You are a people leader, who fosters a high-performance, trusting culture through fair policies, clear expectations, real-time feedback, recognition, talent development and visible change leadership. This role is home & hub linked to our Canary Wharf hub, so you must be located in or around London.

You will be covering a Sunday – Saturday rota between 6am – 11pm, so flexibility is key. Please note: this advert will close at midnight on Tuesday 23rd September. Please submit your application before the closing date/time to be considered.

Key Responsibilities And Accountabilities

  • Leads a video team to produce original content for a region/brand/team. Provides guidance, mentorship and performance management to ensure objectives are met with inclusion and wellbeing at the heart of everything you do.
  • Oversees the entire video production process from planning and access to scripting, shooting, edit, upload and distribution—optimising for each platform, prioritising output, maintaining workflows and timelines, and holding final sign-off on quality, legal and copyright.
  • Develops the overall video plan for the region/brand/team, working closely with the relevant Editor or ACD.
  • Delivers video KPIs with the relevant Editor/ACD, shaping the overall approach with a Video Lead.
  • Works closely with journalists to ensure video is a core component of daily output, including joining conferences where appropriate to shape the news agenda.
  • Shoots original, high-quality footage to aid in producing original content.
  • Ensures adherence to quality standards alongside legal and copyright compliance, with final sign-off on content.
  • Prioritises output and platform choice, including which titles to focus on, in collaboration with editorial colleagues.
  • Responsible for uploading and distributing video content alongside other editorial colleagues.
  • Oversees video workflows and production timelines.
  • Tailors content for off-platform channels to enhance audience reach and engagement. Where approved by a senior editor, distributes this content while maintaining editorial standards.

Skills And Behaviours

  • Collaborative leader who communicates clearly and works well with other teams.
  • Focused on shaping original content to meet relevant audio-video KPIs.
  • Adaptable; keeps pace with rapidly evolving tech landscapes.
  • Excellent communication, including written, face-to-face, presentation skills and the ability to cascade consistent messages for maximum impact.
  • Ability to plan and organise: delegate, set objectives, prioritise tasks, allocate resources efficiently, and manage time to ensure successful completion of projects and daily responsibilities.
  • Skilled at problem-solving and decision making, approaching challenges methodically and remaining calm under pressure.

Qualification And Experience

  • Proven experience managing a video production team, operationally and from a people management and development perspective.
  • Experience of being responsible for publishing decisions at a senior level.
  • Proven track record of shaping video content and plans, managing video strategy and output that has resulted in significant audience growth and video views for a large organisation.
  • Highly knowledgeable on the technical side of video creation from filming to editing.
  • Experience of working with Adobe Suite or similar video creation software.
  • Newsroom experience and an NCTJ/BTCJ qualification is preferred but not a necessity.
  • Strong working knowledge of media law is essential.
