Reach Network Recruitment are pleased to be working with a leading client that has been established for over 50 years within the Civil Engineering and Construction space. They have an excellent reputation with both their clients and employees across the Midlands and further afield, due to continued growth mixed with new contract wins they are looking to expand their team.
Responsibilities
- Deliver projects using a detailed knowledge of structural design and detailing in accordance with relevant UK and European codes of practice
- Produce preliminary design solutions and review these with clients as part of the overall design strategy
- Prepare detailed designs, calculations, specifications, and undertake technical reviews
- Attend design team meetings, project progress meetings, and client engagement sessions
- Liaise with contractors, clients, third-party organisations and stakeholders, responding to technical queries and providing clear guidance
- Design across all forms of construction including steelwork, reinforced and precast concrete, masonry, and timber
- Carry out structural appraisals of commercial, industrial, and residential structures
- Manage project cost control and programme delivery
- Oversee and manage sustainability criteria on projects, including embodied carbon considerations
- Comply with Designers’ duties under the CDM Regulations
- Produce sketches, drawings, and written structural appraisal reports
- Supervise CAD / Revit technicians and junior engineers, undertaking QA reviews of technical and construction information
- Where appropriate, contribute to business development by managing existing client relationships and identifying new opportunities
Requirements
- Strong understanding of both practical and theoretical structural behaviour
- Confident designing timber, masonry, steel, and concrete structures to British Standards and Eurocodes
- Experience undertaking structural surveys across residential and commercial environments, including defect investigations
- Good experience with structural analysis and the appropriate use of design software
- Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to check and review the work of others
- Committed, diligent, and working with integrity
- Ability to supervise junior staff and report effectively to senior management
- Proactive and able to work independently when required
- Client-focused approach with strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Minimum 2 : 1 BSc / BEng in Civil or Structural Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered, or actively working towards Chartership with IStructE or ICE
- Minimum of 6+ years’ relevant industry experience
- Full UK driving licence and access to own transport
