Our client, a well-established and highly respected builders' merchant based in Cheltenham, has an exciting opportunity for a Forklift Operator / Yard Assistant to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis due to continued business growth.
The successful Counterbalance Forklift Operator / Yard Assistant should have:
- A positive attitude and willingness to learn
- The ability to work effectively as part of a team
- Good communication and customer service skills
- A Counterbalance Forklift Licence (desirable but not essential. Evidence of existing licence will need to be shown if held already. (Training can be given after completion of 3 months probationary period))
- Previous experience within a warehouse, yard, builders' merchant or construction environment would be advantageous
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety procedures.
In this role, the Counterbalance Forklift Operator / Yard Assistant will be responsible for:
- Loading and unloading customer and supplier vehicles safely and efficiently
- Operating a Counterbalance Forklift Truck
- Picking and preparing customer orders for collection and delivery
- Assisting customers within the yard and providing excellent service
- Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment
- Handling stock and building materials safely
- Supporting the wider team with general yard and warehouse duties
- Carrying out daily forklift safety and equipment checks before operation
- First three months if without FLT Licence will be spent picking orders, serving customers, loading vans and general housekeeping)
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday: 7:30am to 4:30pm/ 08.00 to 17.00 (One hour for lunch)
- One Saturday in three: 7:30am to 12:30am
Our client is offering the successful Counterbalance Forklift Operator / Yard Assistant a competitive salary dependent on experience, plus benefits including:
