Are you a passionate Sous Chef seeking your next opportunity, and currently looking for a role with personal development, where you feel valued, heard and involved? This fantastic opportunity could be yours.
We are seeking to appoint a passionate & highly motivated Sous Chef to support our valued Client, an independent Pub with rooms, currently operating at one Rosette. Based in the Stroud area, working alongside a small team of experienced, passionate Chefs, the key focus of the Sous Chef role will be supporting the Head Chef, a Chef with a very strong background in running two Rosette kitchens. His vision is to go for two Rosettes, as soon as he has the right Team in place, in his brigade, producing comforting, well-cooked British/ French dishes, using fresh, local, seasonal ingredients.
As Sous Chef you will lead shifts and take full control/responsibility for the kitchen where the Head Chef is not present, while also training, leading and mentoring the more junior members of this friendly, inclusive Team. You will have the opportunity to work with good produce and most importantly in a friendly environment with excellent facilities and a fabulous, supportive owner, while contributing to menu development and presentation.
As Sous Chef, you will be an all-rounder, someone who can take control of the grill, while also stepping into any of the other kitchen sections with ease and confidence.
The ideal Sous Chef will:
- Already be working at one Rosette level. Two would be fantastic, but not essential.
- Really want to work here.
- Possess drive, and a real passion for cooking.
- Be a Sous Chef who is happy to learn, while also offering support.
- Relish contributing to ideas for the menu.
- Lead the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, with confidence.
- Appreciate the work/life balance that is offered, in a non-corporate environment.
- Show initiative and offer flexibility.
- Work closely with the Head Chef & kitchen team to produce exciting dishes.
- Have a current minimum Level 2 Food Safety Certificate, but this can be arranged.
- Have a love for seasonal and local produce.
- Demonstrate a solid skillset including sound knowledge on meat, fish and veg prep.
- Have experience at Sous Chef level in a similar property, or the Client would be happy to consider a Junior Sous Chef, with the right attitude, who is looking to step up and learn.
Sous Chef benefits include:
- A competitive salary of £43K per annum (£38K base + approx £5K Tronc)
- NEST Pension from day one.
- Delicious meals and unlimited soft drinks on duty.
- Free Parking
- 28 days holiday.
- Christmas Bonus Scheme.
- Discretionary annual bonus.
- Yearly staff party
- Access to Bright Exchange - A discount saving platform - Clothing, holidays, food shopping and more!
- Work flexibility over the Christmas & New Year Periods.
- Career progression opportunities.
We regret that accommodation is not available, and so your own transport will be necessary.
