Role Purpose The Senior Design Engineer will play a critical leadership role in the design, development, and continuous improvement of Re-Gen Robotics advanced robotic cleaning systems.
This position combines hands-on engineering, technical leadership, and cross-functional collaboration to deliver robust, compliant, and innovative solutions.
You will lead complex design projects from concept through to deployment, ensuring systems meet stringent ATEX requirements while maintaining high performance, reliability, and safety standards.
Key Responsibilities Technical Design & Engineering Lead the design and development of next-generation robotic tank cleaning systems.
Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies, and manufacturing drawings (Solid Works or equivalent).
Design integrated systems combining mechanical, hydraulic, electrical, and control elements.
Develop and optimise pumping, vacuum, and fluid handling systems.
Conduct design calculations, simulations, and engineering analysis.
System Integration Ensure seamless integration of mechanical, hydraulic, and intrinsically safe electrical subsystems.
Collaborate with controls and software engineers.
Oversee prototype builds and validation testing.
Compliance & Safety Design systems in accordance with ATEX, IECEx, and relevant oil & gas standards.
Conduct hazard analysis, risk assessments, and design reviews.
Ensure all solutions prioritise operator safety.
Innovation & Improvement Drive innovation initiatives to improve system efficiency and reliability.
Identify opportunities for cost reduction and standardisation.
Leadership & Mentoring Provide technical leadership to engineers.
Lead design reviews and problem-solving sessions.
Project & Stakeholder Management Manage engineering deliverables within project timelines.
Liaise with manufacturing, procurement, and operations.
Support customer technical discussions.
Essential Requirements Degree in Mechanical Engineering or similar. 10+ years experience in design engineering.
Strong knowledge of mechanical, hydraulic or industrial systems.
CAD proficiency (Solid Works preferred).
Project leadership experience.
