Senior Software Engineer - Web (Squad Lead) Kings Hill, Kent Full-time 55,000 - 65,000 £ per year Position Overview Senior Software Engineers own the technical delivery of a small squad (typically 3–5 engineers) building software with Blazor, C# and RDT’s design system, and report to the Head of Software Engineering. A Senior Software Engineer role combines hands‑on technical leadership with line management responsibility, and is a natural next step for engineers who want to grow into leading people as well as leading delivery. You’ll sit at the heart of delivering great web experiences for real insurance users - interacting directly with customers as you push the UI/UX forward. Yours is a dual-facing role: leading your squad’s day‑to‑day delivery and technical direction, while line‑managing a small number of engineers within it. You will liaise with your immediate team, other Leads across the business and our customers and third parties. You will shape technical solutions, help analyse business requirements, produce technical designs, and support the people in your squad to grow their skills and careers. Key Responsibilities You will lead a small squad delivering web applications built with Blazor, C# and RDT’s design system, setting technical direction and owning code quality within the squad. You will build enterprise, cloud-native applications in Azure, and be involved in the full software development lifecycle, from design through to deployment and support, alongside your squad. You will line‑manage a small number of engineers, including regular 1:1s, career development conversations and performance reviews. You will work collaboratively with product owners, delivery managers and other squad / team leads to plan and prioritise your squad’s work, with transparency and clear visibility of progress and risk. You will make good use of AI‑assisted engineering tools to work faster and with better quality, applying sound judgement about where human review matters most, and help your squad do the same.
