Position Overview

Join the British Claims Awards 2026 Claims Software Provider of the Year At RDT, we're transforming the future of insurance claims technology. Following our success at the

British Claims Awards 2026 , we're looking for an experienced

Claims Product Owner to join our Product team and help us deliver the next generation of our claims platform.

Working directly with a dedicated Claims engineering team, you'll take product direction and customer problems and turn them into clear, valuable and deliverable solutions.

This is a hands-on Product Owner role for someone who enjoys being close to both customers and engineering

— understanding how insurance teams actually work, getting beneath the problem we're trying to solve, and making sure the team has the clarity it needs to build the right thing.

Key Responsibilities

You'll work closely with Product Management, Engineering, UX and Delivery, owning the translation of product priorities into successful delivery.

  • Own and prioritise the Claims team backlog, ensuring it remains aligned to product priorities and customer outcomes.
  • Turn product initiatives and customer problems into well-defined epics, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • Lead backlog refinement and work closely with Engineering to ensure requirements are understood and ready for development.
  • Make day-to-day product decisions that keep delivery moving while protecting the intended customer and business outcomes.
  • Work directly with insurers and claims users to understand their processes, pain points and needs.
  • Participate in customer discovery, validation and feedback sessions alongside Product Management and UX.
  • Collaborate with UX to ensure we're delivering intuitive, accessible experiences that work for real claims users.
  • Support sprint planning and be an active part of the team\'s delivery cadence.
  • Review and accept completed work against agreed outcomes and acceptance criteria.
  • Use customer feedback, data and product insight to identify where we can continuously improve the Claims experience.

That retains the strong customer-champion element of the original PO role , while bringing its sprint planning, refinement and day-to-day decision-making responsibilities much more firmly into the delivery space.

Essential

  • Technical Skills & Requirements
  • 3–5 years' experience as a Product Owner, ideally within B2B software or technology.
  • Experience working within the insurance industry is essential.
  • Strong understanding of insurance products, processes and customer journeys.
  • Proven experience working closely with software engineering teams to deliver complex digital products.
  • Strong experience of backlog management, refinement, user stories and acceptance criteria.
  • MVP thinking
  • Balancing customer value with technical feasibility and business goals
  • A UX-first approach

Desirable

  • Experience within insurance claims, either operationally or through building claims technology.
  • Experience working with insurers, MGAs, TPAs or claims service providers.
  • Knowledge of claims journeys and workflows, from FNOL through to settlement.
  • Experience with Azure Dev Ops or similar product delivery tools.
  • Experience using customer research, user testing and feedback to shape product decisions.
  • Help us rethink insurance with AI

AI and automation are increasingly important to the future of our products.

You'll have the opportunity to explore how

AI, automation and intelligent workflows can remove friction from insurance processes, support better decision-making and create better experiences for claims teams and their customers.

You don't need to be an AI expert.

We're looking for someone who's curious about what's possible, understands the importance of responsible use in insurance, and wants to help turn emerging technology into genuinely useful product experiences.

  • Competency Requirements
  • Ability to take complex customer or business problems and translate them into clear, deliverable requirements.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the confidence to make decisions and manage trade-offs.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Experience working in Agile product development environments.

Benefits & Opportunities

  • 25 days holiday plus Public Holidays
  • Company pension
  • Private health cover
  • Free parking at the office
  • Electric car salary sacrifice scheme
  • Company social events
  • Company Overview

We've been building technology for the UK insurance industry for more than 30 years, with a history of challenging established ways of doing things and introducing new technology into the market.

You'll be joining at an exciting point in that journey

  • British Claims Awards 2026 – Claims Software Provider of the Year
  • Work on technology used by UK insurers to manage real-world claims.
  • Help shape the next generation of RDT's Claims platform.
  • Work directly with customers rather than being several layers removed from them.
  • Join a collaborative Product, UX, Engineering and Delivery environment.
  • Explore practical applications of AI and automation within insurance.
  • Have genuine ownership and influence over what gets delivered.
