We're looking for a curious, ambitious, and technology-loving individual to join RDT Limited as a Degree Apprentice Software Engineer. This is an exciting opportunity to gain hands‑on experience developing real software solutions while studying towards a fully funded degree‑level qualification in conjunction with The Open University.

Key Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the development team to design, code, test and debug software applications
  • Participate in code reviews to ensure code quality and consistency
  • Collaborate with talented engineers in an Agile environment
  • Contribute ideas and build proof‑of‑concepts for innovative new products
  • Gain exposure to the full software development lifecycle from design through to deployment
  • Continuously enhance your technical skills by learning new programming languages, tools and methodologies; attend training sessions and workshops as required

Requirements

  • Educated to A Level standard (A Level or BTEC in Computer Science or related field)
  • Basic understanding of one or more programming languages such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript
  • Curious about how things work and eager to solve problems
  • Familiarity with development tools such as Git, IDEs (e.g., Visual Studio Code, IntelliJ), package managers, YAML CI/CD pipelines
  • Knowledge of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and methodologies such as Agile or Scrum
  • Appreciation of current AI technologies and practical experience using AI‑assisted tools to support software development, problem solving or learning
  • A strong communicator who enjoys working with others
