About the role
We are looking for an experienced People & Culture Advisor to be based in our Timaru office to support our operations in the South Canterbury area. You will be part of a national P&C team responsible for delivering effective, efficient, and professional generalist people & culture activities. You will support operational managers and frontline staff on a day-to-day basis. This is a hands‑on, operational generalist HR role providing advice and guidance on effective people practices and championing delivery of a wide range of HR transactional services including payroll administration.
Key responsibilities
- Providing timely and pragmatic advice and coaching to managers on all aspects of employee relations, including performance management and disciplinary processes.
- Ensuring all P&C practices and advice are compliant with current New Zealand employment legislation.
- Supporting the end‑to‑end recruitment and selection process, from advertising to onboarding.
- Assisting with the development and implementation of P&C policies, procedures, and initiatives.
- Championing our company culture and driving employee engagement activities.
- Maintaining accurate employee records along with some payroll administration.
- Contributing to various P&C projects as required.
About You
- Has proven experience in an HR Advisor or P&C Advisor role.
- Displays high energy, is positive, solutions‑focused and is just as happy working on people engagement as well as being busy with front line leader policy advice.
- Has the ability to influence and constructively challenge.
- Has a minimum of 3+ years of solid work experience in a similar role including employee relations, performance management, staff engagement, and remuneration.
- Is a strong communicator and your collaboration skills allow you to form effective relationships across all levels of the business.
- Has a self‑driven focus and takes the initiative in a fast paced and busy environment.
- Has strong organisational skills and processes.
- A relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources or a related field is desirable.
