We are seeking a German speaking Bookkeeper/ Accountant for our Business Processing Outsourcing Department in our Birmingham office. We are looking for the right individual with strong organizational skills, ability to work within deadlines and to execute multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure a high level of professional standards. German language skills and experience with QuickBooks is required. The full-time position is available immediately to qualified applicants.

Responsibilities:

  1. This highly demanding position requires a positive, self-motivated individual with superior organizational skills, ability to work within deadlines and execute multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure a high level of professional standards.
  2. Provide consultation to the client, its parent company on their accounting, business administration and taxation needs.
  3. Take ownership of the client engagements assigned to you, anticipating the issues and developing a plan to complete the engagement within budget.
  4. Preparation of financial statements (monthly, quarterly, annual).
  5. Preparation of various sales and use tax returns as well as personal property tax returns and other various forms.
  6. Payroll processing.
  7. Assure timely completion and communication of project status internally.
  8. Research technical issues and discuss with Manager/Partner for further guidance.
  9. Perform other related duties as required.

Desired Skills & Experience:

  1. German language skills are required.
  2. Associates Degree in Accounting or higher, alternatively: German Steuerfachangestellte(r).
  3. Minimum of 2+ years of relevant accounting experience which includes preparing financial statements and communicating with clients.
  4. Experience using QuickBooks accounting software. Accounting software experience in Peachtree and SAP is a plus.
  5. Able to work in a fast-paced high-pressure environment and independently within an established administrative framework.
  6. Strong knowledge of US-GAAP, HGB a plus.
  7. Basic knowledge of US tax system.
  8. Team player, willing to work with and contribute to the success of a team of personable, highly motivated professionals.
  9. Demonstrate high-level client-service orientation, ability to handle sensitive, confidential information with maximum discretion and understanding of clients\’ needs.
  10. Ability to understand challenges facing partners and staff members and be able to manage/reschedule priorities effectively.
  11. Superior organization skills – ability to come up with processes and competently follow through.
