The Ward Sister is a pivotal role in ensuring the safe, effective, and efficient functioning of the ward, with a direct impact on patient safety, staff support, and operational flow. This is particularly critical within an external ward operating in a community setting, where senior clinical leadership and autonomous decision‑making are essential. The Ward Sister provides vital senior oversight, supporting complex decision‑making, managing trust pressures, and coordinating patient flow and movement. The absence of this role places significant additional pressure on the Clinical Nurse Manager (CNM) and Charge Nurse currently in post, increasing the risk of burnout and compromising ward functioning. In addition, the nursing team would not have the nursing leadership that they require to focus on quality and safety on the wards.

You will play a key role in leading the ward team, supporting staff development, and driving excellent standards of care in a busy and rewarding clinical environment.

Working Pattern: Predominantly Day shifts with occasional Night shifts.
