The post holder is responsible for the delivery of care and the assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of individual programs of care. They are expected to take delegated responsibility in a given shift for a group of patients. With experience, they may be expected to take charge of the ward/department/service area in the absence of their line manager.
We are seeking to appoint an enthusiastic, caring, highly motivated Band 5 Registered Nurse (experienced or newly qualified) to join our friendly team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust - Healthcare for Older People Unit based at the South Molton Community Hospital Site. This is a fixed term or secondment opportunity until the 30th November 2026.
Hugh Squier Ward is a 20 bedded adult unit predominantly delivering acute and rehabilitative care to our patients. We also care for a small group of patients that have neurological conditions and require treatment and rehabilitation. We provide excellent care, with an emphasis on advanced discharge planning and work very closely with our Ward Multi-Disciplinary team.
Good interpersonal skills, a willingness to learn and the ability to work effectively in a team, along with a positive attitude towards change are essential to the role. We can offer you a diverse working environment whilst allowing you to develop your clinical skills, knowledge and expertise giving you the opportunity to gain advanced specialist skills to care for patients with complex needs. The successful candidate would be supported in the role with ongoing training and access to a wide range of learning opportunities. If you are a newly qualified Registered Nurse, we will support you as you take your first steps with us.
This role is exciting and challenging, where compassion, teamwork, excellent communication skills, emotional resilience and initiative are paramount. This post will require you to work rostered shifts over the week which includes days/nights.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week - rostered shifts - days, nights and weekends.
