An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Operational Leadership Team at Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust in the role of Operations Manager for a 12-month secondment.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to work with a pro-active, transformational and hardworking Emergency Department Team working at the Eastern site.

The Operations Manager is intended to support to the Senior Operations Manager by providing effective day to day management of the emergency department. This includes operational performance, finance, workforce, safety and quality, service development and transformation.

The Operations Manager will be a key member of the medicine care group team and will help with implementation of the Care Group plan which will maintain patient care to the highest levels of safety and effectiveness; ensure efficient and equitable use of resources; promote a culture that is progressive and inclusive; meet the objectives contained within the Trust priorities and operational plan.

The post holder will be responsible for ensuring the delivery, and reporting a range of key performance indicators covering urgent and emergency care, financial performance and Delivering Best Value within the services managed.

The post holder may be required to deputise for the Senior Operational Manager representing services within their domain at internal and external meetings.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week. 9-day fortnight (week 1 – 5 days and week 2 – 4 days)

Pay: The salary advertised for this position reflects the Agenda for Change 2026-7 rates, inclusive of a 3.3% pay award implemented from April 2026. If you join before this date,, remuneration will be based on the 2025-6 pay bandings (Pay scales for 2025/26 | NHS Employers )

This is an internal vacancy for Royal Devon employees, therefore Bank workers are currently not eligible to apply for this vacancy.

This is a fixed term contract until 25/03/2027. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.
