We are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) in a night ward clerk role. Our admin team is made up of a Team Leader and 18 members of our friendly dedicated ward clerk admin staff and 4 patient flow coordinators.
About the Role
You will deal with referrals from GPs, paramedics and ED, admitting patients onto the ward and handling their subsequent pathway through the hospital. AMU handles approximately 34,500 referrals per year and is a highâpressure, fastâpaced environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Admitting and coordinating referrals from GP, paramedic and ED.
- Managing patient information and bed allocation.
- Providing telephone support and inâperson interaction with patients.
- Prioritising work and using initiative to meet changing departmental needs.
Qualifications and Skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a pleasant telephone manner.
- Ability to interact with patients calmly, sensitively and efficiently.
- Ability to use own initiative and prioritise workload.
Working Pattern
Average 26.25 hours per week on a fourâweek rolling rota.
