To provide a high quality, safe and patient focused clinical pharmacy service to the cancer services speciality, including work with patients in inpatient, day case and outpatient settings. To support leadership within the Eastern cancer pharmacist clinical pharmacy team. Clinically review Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) prescriptions including Clinical Trials. To support the role of Pharmacist non-medical prescribing in cancer services. To participate in the wider pharmacy service and its development in response to patient care needs.
This post provides a unique opportunity for an appropriately skilled individual to work as a specialist cancer services pharmacist at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust on a fixed term 8 month maternity cover contract. The post holder will support pharmaceutical care across Cancer Services (oncology and haematology) and provide leadership within the Eastern cancer services pharmacy team which includes seven cancer services clinical pharmacists and two specialist medicines management technicians. Together the team provides oncology and haematology ward support, Systemic Anti-Cancer Therapy (SACT) verification, clinical trial SACT verification, and JACIE accredited transplant service support. The team works closely with the multi-disciplinary cancer services team including doctors, nurses and non-medical prescribers.
We are looking for a self-motivated candidate who is able to work both independently and effectively as part of our team. The candidate would need to support leadership within the cancer services pharmacy team and work with the team to ensure the timely verification of SACT for our main and outreach sites. The candidate will have excellent organisation and planning skills and will be required to support governance and policy development within cancer services. The candidate will be a component user of the Beacon prescribing module of EPIC and the role will include assisting with the generation of new SACT treatment protocols. As valued members of the cancer services team, and with plenty of scope to develop in the role, our pharmacists enjoy a high level of job satisfaction.
Working Pattern: 30 hours per week. Requirement to participate in 7 day working to include on-call, late duties, bank holidays and weekend working. This post has been identified as involving access to vulnerable adults and/or children and in line with Trust policy successful applicants will be required to undertake a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure Check/Enhanced Disclosure Check. This is an internal vacancy for Royal Devon employees, therefore Bank workers are currently not eligible to apply for this vacancy. This is a fixed term contract until 28/02/2027. For current NHS employees this post could be a secondment opportunity.
