The Systematic Anti-Cancer Treatment Chemotherapy (SACT) Nurse provides clinical and managerial leadership to the nursing and multi-professional team. This role includes acting as a clinical leader and an expert practitioner; liaising, guiding and advising the multidisciplinary team and external agencies in the provision of optimum patient care. The postholder will be responsible for supporting the development of training resources and taking part in teaching opportunities to support all staff involved in delivering anti-cancer therapies. This includes teaching and assessing for sign off in the administration of anti-cancer treatments.
The postholder will also support working across the cancer services footprint through:
- Outreach & driving the SACT van
- Triage Out of Hours (OOH)
- Supporting the 24-hour patients SACT line
- Delivery of SACT in any designated location
- Maintaining safety, staff support and administration of treatment plans
- Mentoring and supporting junior staff across oncology and haematology with SACT skills
This is an exciting opportunity to join Yeo Ward as part of a dedicated and supportive Oncology inpatient service. We are looking for a passionate and experienced Band 6 SACT Nurse to become a key member of our team, delivering high-quality, holistic care to patients admitted for cancer treatment and related complications. This role offers the opportunity to work closely with Band 7 colleagues in shaping and developing inpatient oncology services and enhancing the patient experience across the ward.
Yeo Ward provides a dynamic and comprehensive inpatient service, caring for patients receiving Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatments (SACT), as well as those requiring acute oncology input, symptom management, and supportive therapies. You will play an essential role in delivering safe, effective care while supporting patients through all stages of their treatment pathway.
We are seeking an experienced Oncology or Haematology nurse with strong clinical skills and recent experience in SACT administration. You will be confident in managing complex patient needs within an inpatient environment and committed to improving patient outcomes and experience. Based on Yeo Ward, you will take a leadership role within the patient-facing team, supporting junior staff while contributing to service development and multidisciplinary collaboration.

Working Pattern: 37.5 hours per week, internal rotation, shifts include long days, nights and weekends.
