Role Summary

This is a challenging, fast paced and interesting position, that is essential for the effective delivery of pharmacy services. Knowledge of pharmacy procurement, distribution, automation and ordering systems is essential for this role, although full training on local systems will be provided. This is an opportunity for the right candidate with excellent teamworking, communication and organisational skills to make a real difference in supporting the delivery of excellent patient care.

About the Role

This post provides a unique opportunity to join the pharmacy team at the Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. The role is fast paced and demanding; applicants should be organised, motivated, enthusiastic, keen to learn and able to multi‑task comfortably. Admin experience (keyboard skills, basic Excel, Microsoft Word & web‑based resources) is essential as is being educated to GCSE (or equivalent) level.

The post holder will work as part of the pharmacy procurement team and work closely with the distribution team. The position involves troubleshooting problems efficiently, managing workload effectively and supporting pharmacy services.

Excellent communication skills (verbal, telephone and email) and the ability to work to deadlines and under pressure as part of a team are essential.

Key Responsibilities

  • Support pharmacy procurement and distribution activities.
  • Work closely with the distribution team to ensure timely delivery of pharmaceutical supplies.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues efficiently.
  • Manage workload and meet deadlines in a fast‑paced environment.
  • Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date admin records, using Excel, Word and web‑based resources.

Qualifications and Experience

  • GCSE (or equivalent) education.
  • Administrative experience with keyboard, Excel, Word and web resources.
  • Strong organisational and teamworking skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Additional Requirements

  • Availability for flexible working, including weekends, late duty and bank holiday rotas.
  • As the role involves access to vulnerable adults and/or children, a Criminal Records Bureau Disclosure Check/Enhanced Disclosure Check is required.

Benefits and Working Pattern

Working pattern: 37.5 hours per week – Monday to Friday 08:30am – 17:00pm.

Salary band 3: £25,760‑£27,476 per annum pro rata.
