This will involve ensuring that all documentation is produced to an excellent standard, requiring strong proof‑reading skills. Administrative functions include monitoring patient waiting lists and ensuring compliance with NHS standards. Coordination and organisation of patient appointments in line with local team and Royal Devon University Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust arrangements are essential.
Effective communication is necessary, including handling correspondence, liaising with multidisciplinary teams, and managing telephone and email communications. Contributions to the management of the consultants and team diary are expected, along with ensuring adequate cover during periods of leave. Maintenance of electronic patient records in line with Trust policies is required, as well as adherence to governance, training, and compliance with Trust policies. Assisting other secretaries and members of the admin team in achieving a quality service is also part of the role.
