An exciting opportunity is available for a part-time registered nurse or operating department practitioner to join the day case surgery team in Axminster Hospital. The successful candidate will assist with the safe, efficient delivery of ophthalmology services (cataract and oculoplastic surgeries) as part of the theatre and ward team. Previous theatre experience is not essential, but a willingness to learn and a commitment to high-quality patient care are essential.
As part of the West of England Eye Unit (WEEU), Axminster day case unit provides day-case ophthalmic services. The successful candidate will undertake peri-operative duties across the patient pathway within the day case unit, including pre-operation assessments, admitting and discharging patients on the ward, and providing scrub and circulating support within the theatre suite, ensuring safe and effective care at every stage.
Working Pattern: The unit is open from 07:30 to 18:00. This vacancy is part-time and will consist of two shifts weekly.
