The Registered Nurse Degree Apprenticeship is a part‑time programme delivered in conjunction with Plymouth University. The role is either full time or 30 hours per week and the advert is Trust wide. Positions will be offered based on interview. Placements will be arranged within your locality at either Northern or Eastern services. Successful completion of the apprenticeship course will lead to a BSc (Hons) in Adult Nursing and you will gain your Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) professional registration as an Adult Registered Nurse.
We are looking for individuals who have a passion and a desire to further develop their career in nursing. You must be able to demonstrate compassion, commitment and respect in line with the Royal Devon Trust values and behaviours as well as flexibility to work across several services. It is essential that you have completed any previous Nursing Associate or Assistant Practitioner apprenticeships, and worked a minimum of 12 months within the trust in a band 4 role. Please note that the essential criteria must be on the application.
About the Role: For more information on the Job Description and Responsibilities please click the link below. This is a 23‑month part‑time route. As a Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice, you will attend dedicated learning blocks of theory study time with Plymouth University, delivered either on campus in Exeter or via webinar sessions. You will also attend practice placement blocks at the Royal Devon University Hospital (RDUH), either at Eastern or Northern services depending on your locality (22.5 hours per week on set days).
As a Registered Nurse Degree Apprentice, you will be employed in a host area for the duration of the programme. Whilst you will be allocated to one specific area to work clinically each week, you will experience working across both internal and external placements to gain an appreciation of the different areas of local healthcare service and meet the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) requirements. Previous applicants need not apply.
Working Pattern: Successful candidates will attend University theory or placement on set days (Monday to Friday) – 22.5 hours per week, 7.5‑15 hours per week will be worked clinically per week around the academic timetable.

This is a fixed term contract for 28 months. For current NHS employees, this post could be a secondment opportunity. Preference will be given to staff with ‘Priority’ and ‘At Risk’ status including NHS At Risk staff throughout Devon.
