This is a fantastic opportunity for an Ophthalmic Technician to apply and be part of the Outpatients team, offering excellent patient care and experience at The Centre of Excellence for Eyes (CEE) at The Nightingale Hospital. CEE provides high volume diagnostic services for ophthalmology patients with new and long-term glaucoma and medical retina conditions. Diagnostic clinics take place through a series of swift ocular tests and imaging which are all completed within a forty-five minute visit. The results are then reviewed virtually by a clinician who writes to the patient with the outcome.
About the Role
The overall job purpose is to provide technical support for Ophthalmology Clinics for Glaucoma and Medical Retina patients undertaking a variety of diagnostic tests and contributing to the safe, efficient and smooth running of the clinics.
Responsibilities
- Digital stereoscopic optic disc photography
- Optical Coherence Tomography testing
- Automated Humphrey visual field assessment
- Visual acuity assessment using LOGMAR
- Administering eye drops for ocular examination
- Performing intra‑ocular pressure readings using eyecare equipment
Working Pattern
37.5 hours per week. Shift pattern is 8am - 6pm over 4 days. NO NIGHT SHIFTS.

Salary Band 3: £25,760 - £27,476 per annum pro rata
