We are seeking to appoint a Consultant in Healthcare for Older People (HFOP) to join our Northern services based at North Devon District Hospital, Barnstaple. This role forms part of a wider integrated service, working collaboratively with our Eastern services at the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centred care for older adults across North and East Devon.
Successful candidates will be offered autonomy and dedicated time to undertake supporting professional activities, including teaching, training, and the opportunity to develop sub‑specialty interests. This is an exciting opportunity to shape a consultant post that aligns with your professional aspirations within a forward‑thinking and supportive organisation. The post is offered on a whole‑time basis (10 PAs), but suitably qualified applicants who wish to work part‑time will be considered. We are committed to flexible working arrangements, including job sharing, and will discuss these options with shortlisted candidates. We welcome applications from established consultants and senior trainees who will be within six months of completing specialist training at the time of the Advisory Appointments Committee. Applicants must have completed specialist training in Geriatric Medicine / Healthcare for Older People and be entered on the GMC Specialist Register prior to taking up the appointment.
