Job Description

Trainee Chartered Accountant (ACCA)

Full-time | Permanent | £24,000 | Study SupportIntroduction

Are you a recent graduate or academically strong individual looking to kick-start your career in accountancy? We’re recruiting for a highly regarded and forward-thinking accountancy practice seeking a Trainee Chartered Accountant (ICAEW) to join their close-knit team.

This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a wide range of accounting and tax tasks, supported by structured ICAEW training and real client exposure from day one.

The Role

As a Trainee Chartered Accountant, you’ll receive full support to complete your ACA qualification over a 3 to 4 year period, including all tuition, materials, and exam fees (where not covered by the apprenticeship scheme). You will also have the opportunity to pursue CTA status, subject to exam performance.

Your role will include:

  • Preparing financial statements for a wide range of clients

  • Supporting company secretarial tasks and filings

  • Assisting in the preparation of corporate and personal tax returns

  • Working with various cloud-based accounting systems used by clients

  • Gaining broad exposure to small and medium-sized businesses across multiple sectors

  • Developing technical knowledge and professional judgement through on-the-job training and external courses

This is a non-audit training role. While audit is covered in exams, your practical focus will be on accountancy and tax.

You’ll work in the office full-time to benefit from in-person training, mentoring, and daily contact with experienced professionals.

About You

We’re looking for motivated, conscientious individuals with strong academic backgrounds and a genuine interest in a career in accountancy.

  • A willingness to learn and develop technical and professional skills

  • Excellent attention to detail and organisation

  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively in a small team

  • A proactive attitude and the confidence to take responsibility from the outset

No prior accounting experience is required – just the aptitude and commitment to succeed in a structured training programme.

The Offer

  • Competitive salary including paid full-time employment and study support

  • ICAEW training contract (3 to 4 years)

  • Full funding for training courses, exam fees, and materials (where applicable)

  • Optional CTA qualification support (based on performance)

  • 4.5-day working week for most of the year (Fridays off outside of busy season)

  • Up to 22 days holiday (plus bank holidays)

  • Company pension scheme (after 3 months)

  • Contribution to private health insurance (after probation)

  • Paid local parking

  • Supportive, team-based office environment with real progression opportunities
