RD Engineering Associates is an architectural and engineering consultancy headquartered in Appley Bridge, Wigan, in the North West of England. We have over 25 years of combined expertise in civil and structural engineering, providing professional building design services across the UK. Our team specializes in designing structures using timber, steel, masonry, and concrete, ensuring compliance with industry regulations and requirements. We are dedicated to delivering high-quality solutions to meet the needs of the construction industry.

We are looking for Structural Engineers with several years experience in building defects diagnostics. Due to an increase in work load, we are seeking engineers with experience in undertaking structural surveys and producing structural survey reports.

Typical Duties
  • Inspection of all types of buildings and structures
  • Preparation of specifications for remedial works
  • Reporting to the Managing Directors and providing progress reports
  • Developing new ideas to help shape the future of the business
Education/Knowledge
  • MIStructE or MICE (desired but not essential)
  • Several years post graduate experience in the inspection and reporting on structural defects (essential)
  • Historic Buildings experience (desired)
  • Good knowledge of traditional and non-traditional construction (essential)
  • Proficient in IT systems (essential)
Key Attributes/Skill
  • Confident
  • Technically excellent
  • Car owner and UK driving license
  • All aspects of Microsoft Office

This is a permanent role requiring 37.5 hours per week (full time) working from the head office in Appley Bridge, West Lancashire (5 minutes North-East of Wigan). However, we would consider part time applications/flexible hours and potentially working from home on set days. The role will pay a salary between £35000-£45000 (depending on experience) p/a with 28 annual holidays (including bank holidays) and a company pension. We also offer a flexible working environment, with opportunities to work from home for a number of days a week, once embedded into the day to day running of the business. This is a great opportunity for a structural engineer to join a up and coming business, in fast paced environment. As a growing business there will be ample development opportunities for the successful applicant.
