Who we are

The RCSLT is the professional body for speech and language therapists across the UK. The RCSLT has over 24,000 members and employs around 65 staff predominately based in a London office. The RCSLT also has offices in Belfast, Edinburgh, and Cardiff. Our mission is to improve the lives of people with communication and swallowing needs by facilitating and promoting research, producing guidance, holding events, and influencing government. We aim to promote better education and training for speech and language therapists and provide information to our members and the public about speech and language therapy.

The role

The Membership Officer is responsible for delivering accurate and timely membership administration and high-quality support across the member lifecycle. The postholder ensures the consistent processing of membership applications, payments, renewals and data quality, working to established standards and procedures. Responsibilities include:

  • Processing payments
  • Resolving routine and moderately complex membership or payment queries
  • Supporting reconciliation work with Finance
  • Assisting with the operational delivery of the annual renewals cycle
  • Contributing to continuous improvement by investigating non-routine issues, identifying recurring trends or data anomalies and recommending process or system enhancements
  • Supporting reporting and operational planning through the production and analysis of regular and ad-hoc reports

What we are looking for

The ideal candidate will have experience in membership or customer administration within a high-volume processing environment, with working knowledge of CRM systems such as Salesforce, Direct Debit processes and online payment systems. They will demonstrate strong attention to detail, excellent organisational and communication skills, and the ability to manage a varied workload while meeting deadlines with minimal supervision. Experience handling member enquiries, maintaining accurate data records, resolving routine and moderately complex issues, and identifying data anomalies is essential, alongside an understanding of data-protection requirements and common membership-related queries. The role requires a proactive, calm and solutions-focused individual who can investigate issues, interpret information and apply appropriate resolutions within established guidelines. The successful candidate will work collaboratively across teams, contribute to continuous service improvement and maintain high professional standards while supporting equality, diversity and the charitable aims and objectives of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists.

What we can offer you

  • A competitive starting salary
  • Generous annual leave entitlement
  • Excellent staff training and development opportunities
  • Supportive and flexible working environment including hybrid working arrangements

  • Cycle to work scheme
  • Access to an Employee Assistance Programme and more!
