• Associate rate: £36-40 per hour (dependent on experience)

• Location: Hampshire based - covering Farnborough, Basingstoke, Winchester & Southampton, New Forest areas

Ace Children’s OT deliver assessments and treatment for children aged 2, right up to young adults, aged 25. Services are either delivered in the community, in college, in the client’s home, or in our clinic. We occasionally deliver some services online. Most of our clients are on the autistic spectrum, many with sensory needs as well as learning disabilities, specific learning difficulties and other co-occurring conditions.

The Role

We are looking to recruit a Band 6 or Band 7 Paediatric Occupational Therapist on either a salaried or associate (long-term locum) basis. The role will involve undertaking assessments, report writing, drawing up of treatment recommendations and therapy goals across various places such as schools, homes and within the community setting. We support private families and work closely with Local Area Authorities to deliver EHCP provisions. You may occasionally visit our clinic near Crondall. However, for much of the non-client facing work, this can be completed remotely. Caseloads are typically managed within a 45-minute radius of your location.

Responsibilities include:

• Undertake OT assessments in our clinic, in the community, in college, or the client’s home
• Report writing and drawing up of treatment recommendations and therapy goals, ensuring regular re-evaluation of progress to the required standard
• Provide OT support and guidance during therapy sessions
• Maintain a high quality of clinical note writing following each OT session and when indicated, ensuring electronic records and activity are kept according to RCoT and HCPC standards
• Liaise with and train parents/carers regarding treatment which can be provided at home
• Liaise with and train other agencies involved, such as schools, support workers
• Liaise with other agencies, such as other health professionals, Local Authorities
• Undertake assessments which fulfil the criteria for EHCP application or tribunal procedure
• Enable young person and parents/carers to access and use assistive devices where appropriate
• Undergo regular, in-house clinical supervision
• Attend such training sessions as Ace COT sees fit, to maintain high clinical standards
• Mentor OT students as required
• Ensure awareness of, and adherence to, Ace COT policies and procedures and refresh self regularly

Skills and experience

• BSc Degree in Occupational Therapy
• HCPC accreditation
• Member of RCoT
• Valid and current DBS (within 2 years)
• Minimum of 2 – 4 years paediatric experience in an Occupational Therapy position (HCPC registered post-graduate)
• Experience in standardised assessment and treatment delivery of children with GMS/FMS and self-regulation difficulties in the public and private sector
• Driving licence and access to vehicle for work
• Good IT skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Word
• Working knowledge of GDPR legislation
• Effective communication skills and ability to work well autonomously yet within a team
• Sensory integration training would be an advantage but not necessary to apply for this position
• Working in specialist school settings or mainstream school/pre-school and college settings with neuro-diverse children and young people (2-25 yrs)
• Specialisms in learning disabilities or CAMHS experience, or trauma and attachment
• Experience of contributing towards EHCPs assessments and tribunals
• Previous experience of mentoring or student supervision experience

Please Note: This role requires a minimum commitment of 3 days per week (22.5 hours). Attending clinic during the probationary period will be more common as we accommodate for training and induction.
