This role is based at our Coventry University Scarborough Campus. As an Assistant Lecturer (Teaching) in Adult Nursing, you will undertake teaching and assessment activities while supporting the development and delivery of undergraduate, postgraduate, and professional courses and other core activities ensuring students have an effective learning experience.
Based onsite at Coventry University in Scarborough, you will work closely with other academic colleagues to enrich the student learning and teaching experience to ensure, as appropriate, relevant aspects of research, enterprise and professional context are embedded in modules and courses.
Duties include:
- Leading the curation, adaptation, design and development of course teaching materials.
- Teaching on modules and courses at HE levels 4, 5, 6 and 7 in relevant academic subject areas.
- Supporting the design, implementation, ratification and quality assurance processes related to student assessment.
- Upholding high standards of academic integrity in all aspects of teaching, learning and assessment.
- The preparation and dissemination of both generic and specific formative and summative student feedback.
- Supporting our delivery of simulated practice learning activities.
- Undertaking the role of Academic Assessor.
- Supporting course recruitment activities such as interviews and open days.
- The development and demonstration of best practice in teaching, learning and assessment consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider.
- The development and enhancement of an active learning pedagogy as appropriate to the academic subject area.
Qualifications Required:
- NMC Registration in Nursing (Current and Active) as an adult nurse is essential for this role.
- An Honours Degree in an appropriate/relevant subject area with professional qualification.
- A teaching qualification or acceptance of the requirement to acquire one if not already held.
- A PhD, or a Master's Degree would be advantageous.

- You will have demonstrable experience of successful teaching at higher education levels 4-7 in Adult Nursing either within Higher Education or within the clinical practice environment.
- You will demonstrate a high standard of teaching, learning and student engagement consistent with our reputation and track record as a high-quality provider.
- You will have a passion for sharing knowledge and supporting students in their learning journey, both in clinical practice and in the classroom, with the ability to work flexibly to meet learner needs.
- You will be enthusiastic and self-motivated, with experience supporting, enhancing and engaging in an ‘active learning’ pedagogy with evidence in proactively supporting student success.
- You will have experience and awareness of learners' cultural differences and expectations with the ability to effectively communicate with a wide range of people from diverse backgrounds.
- Innovation and collaboration are key to our success, therefore the ability to work both independently and as part of a wider team with the willingness to engage in flexible ways of working are key skills required for this role.
