About the Role
Reporting to the Transport Manager, you will play a vital role in planning all the collections for our general haulage drivers and assisting in the day-to-day operation. The role will ensure that all collections are optimised for efficiency, compliance, and customer satisfaction, while maintaining high standards of cost control, driver utilisation, and service delivery. Help resolve and support the issues faced by drivers in a timely manner and support the wider team in dealing with customer concerns and escalations. The successful applicant will enjoy a great starting salary and a progressive career.
Responsibilities:
- Planning collections for our returning drivers.
- Planning vehicles around requests, challenges and changes.
- Customer Systems – effectively planning the future collections and deliveries.
- Use of sub-contractors on haulage exchange.
- Monitoring customer requests, allocating jobs and issuing instructions.
- Liaising with hauliers, drivers and colleagues to ensure on time deliveries.
- Keeping up to date with transport issues and dealing with changes to the day’s schedules.
- Communicate fleet availability and issues to the whole team.
- Brief and de-brief drivers on their daily runs throughout the day.
- Record collection/delivery status and discrepancies in systems and escalate where appropriate.
- Answering inbound calls to the business and dealing with requests.
- Troubleshooting critical transport related issues as they arise in a live environment.
What We’re Looking For:
- Previous experience in a general haulage consolidation Transport Planner role. Collections experienced preferred but not essential.
- Strong understanding of UK road transport legislation, including driver hours, tachograph rules, and vehicle weight regulations.
- Experience of planning routes.
