We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Estimator to join a hugely respected regional main contractor. The successful candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates, supporting tender submissions, and ensuring projects are delivered efficiently and profitably.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed and accurate cost estimates for construction projects
- Analyse drawings, specifications, and tender documents
- Conduct take-offs and quantify materials, labour, and plant costs
- Obtain and assess subcontractor and supplier quotations
- Prepare and submit tender documentation within deadlines
- Identify risks and opportunities within project budgets
- Work closely with project managers, engineers, and commercial teams
- Maintain cost databases and pricing schedules
- Assist with value engineering and cost control where required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Construction Estimator
- Strong knowledge of construction methods, materials, and pricing
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Excellent numerical, analytical, and organisational skills
- Proficiency in estimating software and Microsoft Excel
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Ability to work independently and meet tight deadlines
Desirable (but not essential)
- Relevant qualification in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, or similar
- Knowledge of local building regulations and standards
