What we’re looking for:
The Senior Construction Materials Testing Engineer needs to have ACI, ICC, WisDOT or other inspector credentials; however, we are willing to train individuals with less experience. We offer in-house training and opportunities for advancement commensurate with performance. The technicians and inspectors will support the Building and Construction business performing Construction Materials Testing services, working closely with a project engineer or manager, communicating results and findings from field tests and observations and preparing reports from data gathered.

What you’ll do:
- Perform a variety of testing, project specific observations and site assessment duties under direct supervision and/or from detailed controlled procedures.
- Perform observations and testing of construction materials such as soils, concrete, masonry, reinforcing steel placement, fireproofing and asphalt.
- Attend project meetings alone without supervision.
- Train other Technicians.
- Operate testing equipment and conduct testing (example: soil, concrete or other) and provide assessment of data through reporting.
- Perform field and laboratory testing of soil samples and concrete specimens.
- Document daily activities and testing results and prepare field reports.
- Work utilizing drawings, specifications and diagrams.
- Work outdoors on a year-round basis on various construction sites.
- Make detailed observations and give limited interpretation of results.
- Maintain detailed documentation and data from test results.
- Operate a calculator to calculate mathematical test results.
- Must be aware of, and adhere to, safety practices and policies to ensure your own safety, as well as the safety of others who may be affected by your actions at work.
- Clean and maintain equipment and perform site cleanup.
- Interface with contractors and clients.
Minimum Requirements and Qualifications:
- Ability to lift, move, push and pull 30 to 50 pounds frequently, occasionally over 50 pounds with assistance.
- Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make discriminations in sound.
- Ability to kneel and squat occasionally.
- Ability to walk and stand for long periods of time.
- Ability to work outdoors in adverse weather conditions (hot and cold).
- Ability to climb occasionally.
- High School Education or equivalent; preferred with 5 or more years of related experience or Bachelor’s Science Degree from accredited engineering/ABET school and 0-2 years of experience.
- Experience performing field and/or laboratory construction materials testing.
- Must have basic math, calculator and computer skills.
- Ability to communicate and interact effectively in verbal and written communication.
- Must be able to read and understand work plans.
- Must be able to work off shifts and overtime.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable driving record.
Preferred Requirements and Qualifications:
- ACI/ICC/WisDOT certifications are preferred.
