Job Description
As the Senior Electrical Safety Test Engineer, you will be working with our client base from start to finish in helping test, evaluate and report write for their products. We are seeking someone who is comfortable working face to face with our clients and has a good understanding of electrical safety testing to IEC62368 standards.
Required skills and experience:
Essential:
- Relevant Electrical/Electronic formal qualifications
- Good IT Skills, experience with excel, word and data retention systems.
- Experience of working in accordance with a Quality Management System
- Ability to communicate effectively with customers and other members of the team.
- Experience and knowledge in one or more electrical safety standards e.g., IEC/EN 62368/61558/UL62368
Desirable:
- Background in product safety testing
- Experience in safety critical function design/development of electrical products
- Understanding of different certification schemes and processes
- Experience of generating test reports for customers and certification purposes.
- Ability to fault find down to component level
- Experience working in an ISO 17025 accredited laboratory
ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY
The role's key purpose is to complete electrical safety evaluations for Intertek's global client base. Working within the Intertek Electrical UK team, the test engineer would work closely with clients to evaluate their products and documentation to ensure they meet specific requirements of the applicable test standards. The role will also involve working across all departments within UK Electrical, providing technical support to operations, sales, and marketing.
Key activities:
- Complete electrical safety evaluations for Intertek's clients
- Manage assigned projects within Intertek guidelines
- Assess technical documentation and processes against standard requirements
- Provide project updates to customers, as well as management
- Complete and review Intertek's evaluation test reports
- Ensure evaluations are completed to standard and within set timescales.
- Provide technical support to the business
- Attend customer calls and meetings
- Ensure evaluations are conducted in conjunction within Intertek's quality system and accreditation requirements
